Admission to Schools

Admissions to Pre-School, Primary and Post Primary Schools are administered by the Transfer and Open Enrolment Section. The Section provides guidance to Principals/Boards of Governors of all Schools and Leaders/Management Committees of Playgroups on Admission Criteria to be used when selecting pupils. The Board publishes information for parents/guardians in a series of booklets by District Council Area covering Pre-School, Primary and Post-Primary Schools.

Appeals Tribunals

Parents/Guardians who feel that a school has not applied its published Criteria correctly have a right of appeal.  The appeal Tribunal is independent of the Board but the Clerk of the Tribunal can be contacted through the Section. Similarly parents/guardians have a right of appeal to an Independent Tribunal against the expulsion of a pupil. The Section will also facilitate the hearing of these appeals.

Parents/Guardians or Schools who wish to discuss any of these matters should contact the Head or Deputy Head of Transfer & Open Enrolment as detailed above.

Application Forms for Pre-Schools MUST be lodged with the 1st Preference Provider on or before 12:00 noon on Wednesday 11 January 2012.

Application Forms for Primary Schools MUST be lodged with the 1st Preference Primary School on or before 12:00 noon on Wednesday 18 January 2012.
