Schools' Library Service
The Western Education and Library Board's Schools' Library Service provides quality resources, information and advice to support the development of literacy and information skills in Primary, Post Primary, Nursery and Special schools.
We aim to enable schools to develop and make effective use of high quality resources and professional expertise.
We offer schools:

Impartial professional advice and support

Resources to support the whole Primary and Nursery school curriculum and meet the learning needs of the pupils

Support in the acquisition of resources for the school library in all schools

Activities to increase participation such as talks to students, parents and teachers

A recent Local Best Value Review
found that:
'The Schools' Library Service is a high quality, effective
and efficient service which provides up to date advice, support
and a wide range of resources for teaching staff and pupils in
order to support the curriculum. ….. The Schools' Library
Service is a vital one, which aids young people in their
education by creating a foundation for literacy and promoting a
culture of reading, as well as promoting life-long learning.
