The Board's Legal/Insurance Section has responsibility for the following discrete functional areas within the Property Services Department.

Land /Property

• The management of the Board's land and property holdings in respect of matters relating to acquisition, disposal and leasing and reviewing the utilisation of its holdings

Insurance

• The management of the Board's self-insurance risk management strategy in respect of public and Employers liability risks. Commercial insurance policies are effected and claims managed to cover a wide range of risk for both the Board and the Trustees of maintained schools.

Legal issues

• The provision of guidance, advice and support on a range of diverse issues affecting the Board, Principals, and Board of Governors. With interest in legal rights and statutory responsibilities threats of litigation have greatly increased giving rise to ongoing concerns by Principals and Board of Governors.
