  • Employee Resourcing
    The resourcing function is concerned with providing for the acquisition, deployment and depletion of required employee resources through effective recruitment, selection and appointment of personnel to the various functions of the Board.

    Vacant posts are advertised in various ways depending on the type and level of the post, for example.........

    • Advertisements in local and / or national newspapers
    • Advertisements in local job markets
    • Application forms and further information may be obtained on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope (minimum size 10" x 7" with 1st class postage per application form) from the Human Resources Department, 1 Hospital Road, Omagh, Co Tyrone, BT79 0AW.  Further documentation relating to the above posts and all other current vacancies for teaching and non-teaching posts is available on the Board's website at www.welbni.org

  • Training and Staff Development
    The function of the Training and Development section is to ensure that the organization and individual (non teaching) employees have the facility to update existing knowledge and skills and gain new competencies in specific fields of expertise

    The WELB offers a range of training opportunities to its employees, including......

    • A range of short, multi disciplinary, interBoard courses run by the Northern Ireland Education and Library Boards' Regional Training Unit. These courses are designed to meet the specific needs of employees on a five Board basis
    • Accredited programmes of study at supervisory and management development level
    • Customized training designed to meet the specific training needs of individual Boards
    • Opportunities to pursue further education and professional qualifications through the Board's Post Entry Training Facility (PETF)

  • Equal Opportunities
    The WELB's Equal Opportunities Policy states:-

  • Employee Relations
    The Employee Relations function provides for the retention and motivation of staff through effective development and maintenance of high quality employee management policies, the provision of equitable employee conditions and the provision of welfare facilities.

  • Personnel Records and Management Information
    This function ensures that the maintenance and administration of employee records and management information is efficient and effective in supporting Human Resource Management at all levels in the organization.

  • Work Placement Opportunities
    Each year, a limited number of work placements are offered to third level students looking for placements as part of their course. Students interested in doing a work placement with the WELB should apply in writing to the Resourcing Officer. Occasionally, placement opportunities may be advertised on college websites or in careers offices.
